Covid FAQ 2021

Given the infectious nature and global outbreak of the Coronavirus-19 Disease, there are many businesses temporarily shutting down but essential services have been directed to remain open. As a medical provider, Sound Foot Care, PC is such a service and our doors are open to the community. You can rest assured that all new and existing patients are welcome to be seen at our Smithtown location at 2 Brooksite Drive.

It is important to us that our residents and visitors experiencing foot and ankle pain — whether from injury or a chronic condition — can be diagnosed and relieved by the care we offer. For an overview of the virus protocols we have initiated, and the cooperation we ask of our patients, please review the following points.

Protocols in Place for Sound Foot Care, PC 

  • We ask that you do not schedule an appointment if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID -19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other cold-like symptoms). Once you have been tested and are free of symptoms, you may schedule your visit.
  • It is recommended that each patient come to their appointment by themselves unless they are a minor, in which case they may be accompanied by 1 adult.
  • In accordance with social distancing, you will be visiting with Dr. Washington only.
  • You may be interacting with a receptionist.
  • We have provided hand sanitizer throughout our offices, including the receptionist front desk.
  • Our counters, clipboards, bathrooms, and all other hard surfaces are cleaned daily and after each use by patients.

In these troubled times, it is vital to stay informed about the Coronavirus-19 Disease. It is also important to continue to receive medical treatments for your pain and injuries. Please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Ronald Washington, DPM at 631-360-3344, for a scheduled visit!

Frequently Asked Questions:

I have an appointment scheduled. Is the office still open? Yes, we are still open. Should anything change, we will notify you prior to your scheduled appointment date/time. We will have an abbreviated appointment schedule, there will be NO evening hours.

I have an appointment scheduled. Is it safe for me to continue with my appointment? We are taking all precautions by keeping the office sanitized, including special protocols that screen and limit the number of patients in our facilities, and welcome you to keep your appointment. However, if you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms, please call to reschedule your appointment.

Is the office waiving the co-pay fees?  No. You will be expected to pay all unpaid balances and co-payments at the time of your appointment.

Are the clinics clean and what type of chemicals are used to clean the clinics?  Yes. We are using the CDC recommended cleaning supplies for healthcare facilities.

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment? Only if essential. We are asking all patients to come alone to assure enough personal space for everyone in our waiting area. However, if it is medically necessary for you to be accompanied by someone, please only bring one person with you. 

How safe is it to be in the waiting area? While we are taking every precaution possible to ensure the waiting area is kept sanitized and uncongested, all patients are asked to wait in your vehicle until your appointment time, when feasible, and only bring guests that are essential to the visit.

Is it mandatory to wear a mask?  Yes, a mask is required before entering our office. If you arrive without a mask you will be required to purchase one from our office for a small fee.

Are the offices still accepting New Patients due to the virus? Yes, our offices are still accepting New Patients. Please refer to our website for the most up to date information here at  

I woke up this morning not feeling well and do not think it’s safe to leave my home with this virus. Will I be charged the $50.00 “No Show” fee for canceling my appointment today?  If you are not feeling well, please DO NOT come into our offices. There will not be a “No Show” fee assessed. We can reschedule your appointment for a later date. 

Are you seeing patients over the age of 80? Yes; we are seeing all patients at this time. If you are over 80 and have any concerns, please speak to your primary care physician.  

Will the office provide the option to discuss “Results Only” appointments via the phone vs. coming into the office?  No. Unfortunately, due to HIPAA laws and precautionary measures, we cannot discuss your results over the phone.

Are your offices offering COVID-19 screenings?  No. The offices are currently not offering COVID-19 screenings. If you feel you need to be screened, please check the local listings for who is currently offering these screenings.
